Former Greece captain Theodoros Zagorakis is set to lead a team of investors in a takeover of PAOK, it was confirmed on Thursday.
Zagorakis is due to assume his role as administrative chief at financially troubled Thessaloniki club PAOK on Monday.
The Euro 2004 winning captain said he would only remain on the board under the condition that certain club debts were written off by the state.
Zagorakis, 35, has spent the past two of seasons playing for PAOK after a season with Bologna in Serie A but looks set to hang up his boots and follow in the footsteps of AEK president Demis Nikolaidis.
He is believed to have begun assembling a team of investors but no details of the entrepreneurs have been disclosed.
