Monday, May 11, 2009 : Holders Springboks draw a blank

Pan-Hellenic Rugby 7sRhodes took a major step towards lifting the Pan-Hellenic Sevens with an impressive clean sweep in the first round of games.

The islanders won all five game they played in Domokos posting an impressive 158 points and conceding just 19.

The day will go some way towards erasing the bad memories of last year when they stormed out of the competition refusing to play their semi-final against Spartans.

Results of first Pan-Hellenic Rugby Sevens 2008

Last year the competition was played over one round but this time there will be a second round of matches on June 14.

Holders Attica Springboks had a bad day at the office losing all five games - three of them by just two points.

National champions Athens picked up three wins and, like Springboks, will be stronger when they are reinforced for the second round by a number of their leading players who were away playing for the national team in Bulgaria.
